Anthony Howe is an artist who uses the wind as a humble partner in his creations. A wind causes his dynamic artworks to move and interact. Howe’s remarkable power to make such seamless movement through rigorous engineering and crafting is highlighted by the components’ hypnotic fluttering, whirling, and twirling motions. It is created using computer modeling (for planning purposes), which is then piecemeal manufactured and assembled.
His artworks seem to float in the wind because of how fluidly they move, which illustrates the amount of effort required to achieve that effect. Howe’s most recent piece, Zavion, is a perfect example of this. The six-foot-tall artwork, which is situated by the water, resembles a person dancing by windmilling their hands and twisting their neck. It is pure hypnosis, to put it plainly.
Howe had this work in his head for a very long time, but it wasn’t until 2021 that it finally came to life. He adds on Insta, “I have been considering a complete figure for many years. I’ve been sketching prospective characters for at least five years.
Look out any of Howe’s dynamic wind creations if you like Zavion.
