A strange bird that was once believed to be extinct makes a 180-year comeback

A strange bird

It has long been believed that the black-brow babbler is a mysterious bird.

The one and only specimen was taken from the wild in the 1840s and was never seen again. To demonstrate the existence of the bird, only one preserved specimen was left.

But the tale of the babbler with the black brow is far from ended.

Two local Borneo, Indonesian men named Muhammad Suranto and Muhammad Rizky Fauzan discovered a bird they had never seen before, caught it, and even took a picture of it before releasing it back into the wild.

When the two guys showed their photographs to birding clubs, ornithologists immediately understood what a remarkable find they had made.

Researchers now have a better understanding of what live birds look like and where they live because to the images that have been taken.

Gusti Akbar stated that this bird is frequently referred to as “the largest conundrum in Indonesian ornithology.”

We don’t know if the birds are safe or how long they may survive, so while it’s amazing to think that it’s still alive and well in these lowland forests, it’s also a little worrying.

The results of recent studies could be used to suggest that the black brow babbler be listed as a threatened species.
