A cat survived the earthquake in Italy
A cute kitten named Gioia, whose name means “joy” in Italian, was discovered under that nation’s rubble. The cat survived in the ruins of her owner’s Amartice home for five days.
Thanks to the fire team’s heroic rescue efforts, she was fortunate to escape the terrifying situation unharmed; when she was thirsty, they gave her water right away and conducted a veterinary examination. One of the worst areas was there.
Daniela Tursini, Gioia’s human, is one of the earthquake survivors; fortunately, Gioia quickly hid when she felt the jolting movements, making it challenging for Daniela to rescue her. As her house fell, Daniela was able to flee.
After seeing no signs of life from her cat, Daniela became worried and asked that a search be conducted. After five days, she received the wonderful news that her beloved Gioia was still alive after having given up on finding her.

The firefighters cleared the wreckage using bulldozers, and after a while they discovered young Gioia crawling among them.
It’s practically a miracle that this tiny cat made it through the earthquake, which had a magnitude of 6.2 on the Richter scale, caused significant damage, about 300 fatalities, and numerous injuries.
More than 200 animals have so far been rescued from the wreckage of damaged buildings, according to a statement from Italy’s ENPA (National Animal Control Agency) center.
