Beautiful animal sculptures made of resin and flowers appear to have been carved from ice

Wonderful sculptures made of resin and flowers just look like an ice

Fantasy Animal Sculptures by Evgeny Hontor

Plastic is an adaptable substance that may be skillfully manipulated to mimic other substances. Evgeny Hontor, a Russian artist, uses it to fashion tiny animal figurines that appear to be made of ice. The fake decorations give off the impression that they belong in a strange woodland where tiny creatures emerge from the cold rivers.

Making art is “a philosophy of life” for Hontor. He has been painting since he was a little kid, and in 2006, he started to study sculpture. The gifted artist has now discovered his specialty in making little animal figures. Handheld totems constructed from resin and natural materials that resemble figures from a fantasy movie are the outcome of the painstakingly handcrafted sculptures.

Hontor makes and sells little miniatures of animals in many sizes, colours, and forms, but his transparent “ice” animals are especially endearing. Each adorable animal, from foxes and wolves to birds and cats, appears to be constructed entirely of frozen water. Every animal is sculpted by Hontor using velvety clay, and the same form is subsequently produced in resin. Before the combination settles, he stirs in flowers and feathers. The statues permanently retain the natural elements after they are dried. Hontor embellishes certain works with drawn features to give the figures more life, including such colored eyes and decorative patterns.

With these crystal beings, I feel like a kid again, says Hontor. “I know I’ll sell most of them, but I’m so glad I can have a little of them to look at, photograph, and hold in my hands before that!”

Additionally, the artist uses descriptive line work to create “ice creatures.”
