Rescuers knew they needed to look for the puppies and also act quickly.
Louis Rescue came across a pet dog with a bad leg. Obviously they planned to save, but what they didn’t really know was that they were going to save a lot more.
Shortly after rescuing the dog, they saw that she had milk. That’s when they realized that this dog was a brand new mom and there were puppies around somewhere. Rescuers knew they needed to look for them and also act quickly.
They went straight into the undergrowth where the pet mother lived to see where her puppies were. The rescuers parted the branches and also crawled through the bushes until they finally found a small den.
Inside the lair, a hole in the ground that looked like a “safe harbor”, there were not just a few young puppies, but THIRTEEN! Their mother did a great job hiding them to keep them safe and also to relax.
Rescuers carefully placed the puppies into the container one by one before bringing them and their mother back to the rescue. There they had the opportunity to provide the mother, as well as the puppies, with the necessary medical care.
The mom will be undergoing surgery on her injured leg and all puppies will be cleaned as well as neutered and also eventually placed for adoption once they are old enough.
Meanwhile, Stray Rescue of St. Louis is looking for people/families to promote the puppies. They run classes and also have more information on their website, which you can check out by clicking here.
