Adorable animal sculptures
Bryony Rose Jennings is an artist surprising artwork from discarded textile remnants. She picks every fabric remnant with precision and knits them together like puzzle pieces to produce a vibrant creature statue. Because of this, the quirky handcrafted figures are full of personality.
Jennings has been an artist for the whole of her life and has experience creating jewelry. Then, approximately 14 years ago, she and a buddy made a patched donkey entirely out of recycled items. Jennings‘ new artistic path was inspired by this demanding undertaking, and she has been creating fabric creations ever since. These haptic animals available in a multitude of sizes and forms, from big dogs to tiny mice. For most cases, the resources at hand influence how the subject appears.
My Contemporary Met quotes Jennings as saying, „I adore the sensation of being entirely immersed by whatever it is that I am working on, it’s possible to lose oneself in the procedure, hunting for the exact bit of frayed cloth for an eyelashes or the correct leaf pattern to emphasise a foot or a loin.“ „My art seeks a meaning of things and soul; I’m not seeking for reality. For each statue I create, there is a turning point when the character emerges and starts to guide its own development; it almost seems magical. The dogs come into life and draw me in.
Jennings believes that the sculpture’s making process and end version are both extremely relevant. The path has been unexpected, and my work and where it takes me is unexpected too, and that’s just the way I like it, she continues. „I am very blessed to have discovered a way to make a livelihood doing something I enjoy,“ she says.
