Huge dragon statue
Dragons have captivated humans for ages, appearing in everything from old fairy tales to the most recent Game of Thrones show. This mythological being is interpreted differently by cultures that are different, but in Russian and Ukrainian tradition, it is a huge dragon known as Zmei Gorynich (meaning “Dragon, the Son of the Hill”). In reality, the Russian entertainment area Kudykina Gora offers fantasy lovers the chance to witness a life-size replica of the antagonist.
This 49-foot-tall metal and cement monument, which is situated outside of the little village of Kamenka in the Lipetz region, is based on descriptions of the dragon beast from Russian mythology. Vladimir, a Ukrainian sculptor, took 2 years to complete the sculpture after being commissioned to do so in 2015. The finished piece has 4 enormous legs, 2 wings, and 3 heads on long, twisted necks that are all oriented in various directions. The sculpture’s body is coated in minute representations of the dragon’s scales, claws, and fangs, giving the enormous monster an even more lifelike and intimidating appearance.
Before entering the resort’s fence, guests can see the artwork. The main show, albeit the dragon’s appearance is amazing in and of itself, happens each weekend and vacation around 7 o’clock. The Zmei Gorynich sculpture then lets out a horrifying scream and begins to exhale genuine smoke and fire from each of its heads.
